Taking part in the China International Import Expo with Wajiu

On 09/10/2018, Wajiu confirmed the participation in the first China International Import Expo (CIIE). It is a major step for the Chinese government to hold the CIIE in order to open the Chinese market to the world and to actively support economic globalization. Starting from 2018 China will hold CIIE, announced Xi Jinping, President of the PRC, in May 2017, at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. “The Chinese government sincerely welcomes government officials, business communities, exhibitors and professional purchasers across the world to participate in CIIE and to explore the Chinese market”, said the statement on the CIIE official website. It will gather variety of companies from different countries to strengthen global economic cooperation, and to support global international trade, and will have a dedicated wine and spirits section featuring producers from all over the world. Wajiu will participate in the Expo alongside some of the key suppliers.

The venue will take place in National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai on November 5-10, 2018. Partnered with World Trade Organization; United Nations Conference on Trade and Development; United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the CIIE will be the first Expo of its kind.

With the world’s largest population, China is the second largest economy, as well as the second largest importer and consumer in the world.

China’s imports of goods is predicted to hit a value of 10 trillion U.S. dollars in the next five years. Taking into consideration growing Chinese economy and increasing income of Chinese citizens, China is about to become the world’s second largest market for wine, behind the US, over the next five years. And Wajiu is poised to take advantage of this growth.

Wajiu is a wine importer and a B2B e-commerce platform that was founded in 2014 in Beijing. It’s now China’s largest wine importer by volume, importing 10 million liters in 2017. Today Wajiu manages more than 50,000 square meters of temperature- and humidity-controlled warehouses, Wajiu’s website has now over 50,000 registered users, who can order wine and make payments easily online.
